Not Just a Game

This bimester  us, 1st and 3rd graders, finished our projects with giant challenge games.  They might have looked as simple entertainment but, for us, they were a lot more than that. The challenges we were faced with were related to everything we had studied during the bimester. They required concentration, good memory, and the skill of being able to solve a problem under pressure. Because that is the whole point of PBL, to help us develop skills that will stay with us for the rest of our lives and that will come to our aid when we need them the most. Teamwork, collaboration and self-confidence played a crucial part in this project and the only way of acquiring these is through projects that simulate reality. What is great about PBL is that it feels like a game, it looks like a game but it is not just a game. It is a window into the future and, from what we have seen, the future is promising, and interesting and yes, fun.
